Brussels Spring

Another post from Bandung before heading to Seoul on Friday. Last night, I went to Brussels Spring with my best buddy, Catherine. Both of us are foodie so we ordered so much food just for the two of us. I don't know why but every time I go back to Bandung, Brussels Spring is one of my favorite destinations. I usually get Nasi Goreng Buntut, but last night I decided to try something new. So, I tried Nasi Goreng Cabe Rawit. I know it's still nasi goreng, but it's definitely different from nasi goreng buntut with the spiciness from cabe rawit (Thai chili). While I ordered Indonesian food, Catherine ordered Brussels Spring Beef Steak. The steak was so thin I kept teasing her that it wasn't steak, it was "gepuk." Besides main course, we also ordered Choco Avocado cake and Original Liege Waffle with Ferrero and Stracitella ice cream. Since we ordered so much and felt guilty about it, we decided to just order Blossom Tea instead of Brussels Ice Coffee that I usually order. Here are some of the pictures that I took last night.

The place itself is pretty cozy. Unlike Pancious, in my opinion the waffle at Brussels Spring is better than its pancake. There are two different kind of waffle: regular waffle and liege waffle. In my opinion, the liege waffle is better since it's very moist. In contrary, my family really likes the regular waffle; it's more crunchy and very light. Either way, both of them are pretty yummy!

Bakmi Apin

Another noodle post! Yay! So, today it's time to review "Bakmi Apin." One of the things that make Bakmi Apin different from other noodle restaurants is the dried shredded chicken on top of the noodle. The texture of the chicken is just like "abon." If you like spicy food, try the hot mie. But for me, I think it's a little bit too spicy. Instead, I like the yamien asin; it's not spicy and I can just add the chili according to my preference. Also, the strawberry juice at Bakmi Apin is really good. You definitely have to try it if you go there. Besides noodle, they also sell baso goreng, tahu baso, and different kind of snacks. In general, everything that I tried was pretty tasty and yummy.

Bakerzin

Last night, my family and I went to Bandung Super Mall (BSM) and decided to try Bakerzin. At first we were not sure about eating there since it's quiet pricey. But, I'm glad we decided to try it since it's actually pretty good (better than I expected). I thought it's going to be just like other pricey western restaurants that only focus on the presentation but totally forget about the quality of the food itself, however, I was wrong. The food was not only "look good," but also taste good. Here are some of the food that we ordered.

Caezar Salad

Brio Salmon

Salmon Potato

Chicken Cutlet

Dory Fillet Pasta

Oxtail Fried Rice

Strawberry Warm Chocolate Cake

Ice Lychee Mint

Among all that we ordered, surprisingly, my favorite is the oxtail fried rice. Although, my sister said the dori fillet pasta is really good. But, too bad I didn't get a chance to try it. Overall, the food was pretty good and the service is pretty good as well. The waitress were really nice. I will definitely come back again to Bakerzin in the future.

My Short Trip To J-Town

Last Thursday, to escape from Bandung's traffic during long weekend, my family and I went to Jakarta. Normally, Jakarta's traffic is so much worse than Bandung's. However, it was totally the opposite last week. I think everyone was on vacation. Anyways, since it was only a very short trip, I didn't get a chance to visit many places.

Our first stop was Pancious Taman Anggrek. Pancious has several location, but the one that I usually go to is the one in Taman Anggrek Mall. In my opinion, the must try item in the menu is "Mushroom Pasta." I think Pancious is also very famous with their pancake and waffles. However, in my opinion, their pancake is so much better than their waffle. It's very fluffy and light. My favorite is "Coco Baileys Pancake."

After Pancious for dinner, we headed to Pullman Hotel Central Park for check in. The hotel has a pretty unique interior. Some people find it "scary," but for me it's more very "artistic" rather than scary. Here are some of the pictures of the hotel. Oh, I forgot to mention, the room has a very modern design. Don't be surprise when you see the room since the bathroom is in the middle of the room and it's "see through." Well, some of the rooms have completely see through bathrooms and some of them are made from frosted glass.

Move forward to dinner time, we decided to just walk to Central Park and had dinner over there. So, we went to Hachi-Hachi Bistro. The food is pretty good and my favorite ones are Bistro Rice and Spicy Seafood Yaki Udon.

Dragon Roll and Super Crunch Roll

The next day, we went to Grand Indonesia Mall and ate at the food court. The food court offers a variety kinds of food, so we tried some of them. We ordered Nasi Campur Putri Kenanga, Pho 24, and Es Campur for dessert.

             Pho 24                                   Es Campur

Before I went home the next day, I went to Central Park to get Cha Time. Cha Time serves bubble tea. Even though it's nothing compare to the ones in San Jose, it's the best that I can find in Indo. My favorite drink is grass jelly milk tea with 50% sugar (I don't like my milk tea to be very sweet). You can choose 70% or 100% sugar if you like your milk tea to be sweet or even 0% or 30% of sugar is you like your milk tea not to be sweet. I like the fact that they give you options.

And lastly, we went to Bakmie Chong Sim "Athek" Medan before headed back to Bandung. We ordered Mie Medan and also Nasi Rames. Remember my Cafe Bali post? I also ordered nasi rames, but I must say that I definitely like the nasi rames at this place better than the one in Cafe Bali, especially the sambal (chili). It's so spicy and tasty at the same time. Once again if you don't have high  tolerance of spicy food, don't even think about trying the sambal. The place is pretty small and SUPER hot since they don't have air conditioner, and you know with Jakarta's SUPER HOT weather, it's really hard to be at a place without air conditioner. However, the food makes it worth it to go there even without air conditioner.

That's it for My Short Trip to J-Town. I'm very excited for my trip to Korea this Friday, and I'll definitely keep you guys updated about my trip.

Lomie Lian Hoa

Today I'm going to review one of my favorite restaurant in Bandung: Lomie Lian Hoa. Their main dish is lomie, but they also serve yamien (noodle) and nasi tim. They also serve some of the best appetizers I've ever tried. One of my favorite appetizer in this restaurant is "Lumpia Goreng." The lumpia goreng is actually made from fish paste, not vegetable like regular lumpia goreng. It's like baso goreng but better, so it's definitely worth trying. The restaurant itself has been there for a long long time, however, I don't feel there are too many changes been done since the first time I was there (more than 10 years ago). They open very early in the morning (I think around 6.30am), but they close every Thursday. Since they open very early in the morning I usually go there for breakfast or maybe early lunch. It's a simple restaurant with less than 10 tables; small but yet serves one of the best noodle in town. How do I know that? Cause I'm a noodle lover and I've tried a lot of noodle restaurant here in Bandung; and I must say this is one of my favorites.

Lomie Pangsit

Lumpiah Goreng and Siomay

Bola Ubi

Oh, did I mention anything about their amazing bola ubi? Bola ubi is Indonesian dessert made from sweet potato. It's sweet and has a chewy texture just like tapioca pearl. I really like it and Lomie Lian Hoa has an amazing bola ubi. If you have a chance to go there, make sure to try it.
